All the Ballroom dancer in Pittsburg, Pa area
Mark your calendars with a big, fat marker!

Every Friday night - the Integral Ballroom Studio - located outside of Pittsburgh in Murrysville - a nice East suburb - offers an evening of dancing Ballroom - their address - 3731 William Penn Hwy - Murrysville, Pa 15668.
The fun dancing night begins at 7:30 pm with a lesson taught by the studio owner/main instructor - a dark hair, medium framed, energetic Luanne O'Brien who trained with the top New York City Ballroom studios - before she and her husband (also a Ballroom dancing instructor) opened their own Ballroom dancing venue in Pittsburgh area.
If you want more info you can click on the studio's website www.integralballroom.com
or you can "shoot" Luanne - an E-mail
luanneobrien@integralballroom.com
Last night - Fri - Apr. 24 - 15 went very well. Everybody had a lot of fun with some new, not complicated line dances which the studio owners demonstrated. I danced a well led American Tango with Luanne's husband while their excellent music system gave a good sound to a new arangement of a beautiful, not too frequently performed Tango.
Most studios constantly play "La Cumparsita" and "El Choclo" - which are classics - outstanding Tangos - but how much of the same thing can a dancer - take.
At any rate - have a great week everybody and we will see you Friday evening at the
Integral Ballroom studio!

A Reformed Temple - Rodef Shalom in Oakland - the academic area of Pittsburgh, Pa - offers interesting activities for the community.

                          Copyright@L.Hadley 2023

The stunningly designed reformed temple Rodef Shalom located right next to a prestigious Carnegie Mellon University which proximity to University of Pittsburgh - makes the whole area - full of rhythmically changing - liberals, reformers and other modern thinkers - notwithstanding tons of expensive mansions - adorning that part of Oakland. We don't want to be mentioning the other area of Oakland closer to University of Pittsburgh which has its share of dumpy housing where the small and medium size hoodlums are strongly attracted to the big university campus atmosphere.
I clicked on www.rodefshalom.org website to find a creative weekly activity for mature ladies who want to get out of the house in order to socialize with other people. Before you join the group you need to speak to the leader of that gathering - to see if you fit in with the rest - while at the same time you will get an idea whether that group will interest you.
Have a great, new week - everybody! We shall meet here a week from today!

The Twenty First Century's Industries in the U.S cities - employing a lot of people - for now - appear to be various Health related impressive structures. Squirrel Hill has several big facilities which call themselves - Centers for Rehabilitations and Healing which are also known by another less favorable name of "nursing homes".
When I briefly visited the new looking building located on 2025 Wightman - at the heart of the opulent and stylish - Pittsburgh's - Squirrel Hill - what impressed me the most was how clean and orderly the massive, eight story home - appeared.
Even though the two patients in the wheelchairs - one middle aged male and one female of the same age - broke my heart since they looked like the rehabilitating victims of a stroke - which now - attacks a lot more younger people than before - I still noticed that they appeared well taken care of and in a good mood.

Have a nice first day of spring - everybody!

Every First Monday of the Month - noon till 1:30 pm - Lunch and Learn sessions at Pitt - Hillel in Oakland are Dynamite Fun.

                           Copyright@L.Hadley 2025

Squirrel Hill - Pittsburgh, Pa. 15217 - Congregation Beth Shalom organizes first Mondays of the Month - sessions - in which the participants exchange the ideas on "provocative" topics.
The advanced registration is required and the small fee for lunch needs to be paid - both are well worth the effort and the money. During the Mon. March 2 - 2015 - "lunch and learn" a small group of people of various ages and backgrounds - discussed the implications of "always telling the truth" - which can be risky.
Rabbi Amy Levin - led the session - and provided the examples from Torah where "telling the truth" was stretched and distorted - in various ways by many famous entities - including God - for good and powerful causes - of course. The thought-provoking discussions of this nature have been going on for a long time - however - after listening to various views on the different variations of "stretching" the facts for many lofty reasons - I came to the conclusion that expressing more honest and truthful views while communicating with other people is - definitely - worth the risk of - possible various and unpredictable - consequences.
Send us an E-mail with your opinion and we will publish the results - next week.

Have a great first week of - almost spring - everybody!

Retired Ambassador and Current Professor of International Affairs - Delivers a Dynamic and Fun Lecture about the nature of the U.S. ambassadorships - at PIttsburgh's Squirrel Hill fancy and beautiful - temple - Beth Shalom.

                              Copyright@L.Hadley 2025

On Sunday morning - Feb. 8 - 2015 - Professor Dennis Jett - who served for twenty-eight years as a career diplomat for the U.S. - state department delivered an exciting, one hour lecture. He served as an ambassador to Peru and Mozambique as well as holding a position of a Deputy Chief of Mission in Malawi, Iberia, Argentina and Israel while currently - he teaches at the Department of International Affairs at Pennsylvania State University.
Mr. Jett outlined with a lot of humor and self-deprecating wit - all the perks and hardships connected with professionally serving the U.S. interests - abroad. With the excellent enumeration of bet. $160 and $180 thousand dollars per year - come a lot of expected and unexpected - hardships -notwithstanding the sexy and prestigious sounding position of an ambassador.
The main challenge to this glamorous post would take a form of a General Inspection report generated regularly - which can harshly evaluate the ambassadors - depending on the political motive of the "evaluators." Some ambassadors - quickly resign their posts - upon receiving a poor report - deserved or not.
The audience at Pittsburgh's - Squirrel Hill - Beth Shalom temple - asked a lot of interesting questions - skillfully handled by Mr. Jett.
