Our Choice for YT Vid of the Wk. for 1st Wk of Apr.2017 - "Tango - 'Loca'" by Tengiz Mosidze.

For the first week of Apr.2017 - we chose a Tango Video uploaded by Tengiz Mosidze who uploads a lot of Tango videos from Russia. He uploaded a new video on March 30 - 2017 - a performance from Moscow's 2016 - yearly Tango Fest - held every October in Moscow.
Kurkatov's lead comes off as confident and decisive - but his partner follows him with a lot of self-assurance and her own initiative. Sergey Kurkatov and Yulia Borenicheva - prove that they have mastered Argentine Tango's advanced moves which they execute in an easy, relaxed fashion. Theirs is not a staged, highly choreographed for theatrical performance - number.
The "Solo Tango Orchestra" almost always presents a terrific number of their own - even though they manage not to "upstage" the dancers. The players - two violins - the bandoneon (a Tango version of accordion  - currently used only in Tango orchestras) and their grand piano player - all put on a good show - in their own right.
At any rate - have a good first week of April 2017 - everybody! As always - don't forget to check out our channel tango3721 and - please - click here next Thursday or Friday of next week for our choice of YT Video of the Week for next week!

Our Choice for the YT Vid of the Wk - "Opjum 1933-Henryk Gold Orchestra & Stefan Vitas".

Our choice for YT Video of the Week for the fourth week of March 2017 is a video uploaded by our friend - Dr.240252 on March 21-2017 titled "Opjum 1933 - Henryk Gold Orchestra - the vocals - Stefan Witas."
This hypnotic slow Waltz - composed by Artur Gold - creator of many fabulous Tangos and other musical pieces - has gathered many thousands of fans throughout the years. The instrumental arrangement of the famous Warsaw orchestra led by Henryk Gold (Artur's famous cousin) - stands out but doesn't upstage the terrific vocals by Stefan Witas (a Warsaw Opera singer) who performed a lot of Tangos during the Warsaw's Renaissance of sorts from 1930 till 1939 when the sudden, massive invasion of Poland - by the powerful Nazi armies - almost destroyed Warsaw.
The orchestra leader Henryk Gold was famous in his own right - not only as a cousin of a famous in Warsaw at that time - composer - Artur Gold who frequently - had the magnficent lyrics to his exquisite Tangos - written by Andrzej Wlast - a prominent lyricist/manager of many popular Warsaw venues. He wrote the super hypnotic lyrics to this piece.
Some small Warsaw critics called Andrzej Wlast - a "king of kitch". The only explanation of their behavior could be found in an opinion regarding the professional critics - issued by a famous French thinker - Voltaire - whose theory - about some critics whom he considered - vicious to no end goes something like this - "they are just like the eunuchs - despising the creative, talented people who make love - freely." It's a pity that Voltaire was a prominent anti-Semite - or else he would be respected by a lot of people.
Back to Artur Gold - Henryk Gold's cousin - who unfortunately - perished in Nazi's reign of terror at the relatively young age - his early forties - with the similar fate meeting Andrzej Wlast. Henryk Gold - Artur's older cousin - escaped Poland - thank God - then came to the U.S. where he was successful for a long, long time.
Enjoy the vid and the breathtaking artwork provided - as usually - by Dr.240252 - and have a good last week of March 2017 - everybody! As always - please - don't forget to click here next Thursday or Friday - for our Choice of YT Video of the Week for next week - also check out our channel - tango3721!

Our Choice of the YT Vid of the Wk for 3rd Wk of March is "Tango 'Patetico' - Dmitry Vasin and Carla Espinosa".

Our choice of the YT video of the week for the third week of March 2017 - "Tango 'Patetico' by Dmitry Vasin and Carla Espinosa" was uploaded by Tengiz Mosidze who uploads tons of beautiful Tango videos from Russia. This vid was produced on Nov. 03 - 2014 right after the yearly October Moscow Tango Festival for that year.
His lady partner - Carla Espinosa was his partner only a few months before that performance - which is hard to believe since the dancers who dance on that level - frequently practice several years - polishing a championship piece.
The music sounds heavenly - the Tango composer Osvaldo Pugliese came up with a lot of totally breathtaking Tangos; their routine is a highly staged choreography with her magnificent dress appearing like a star of the video in its own right. Of course - she has the right kind of physique to successfully wear this kind of sexy garment.
The "Solo Tango Orchestra" with their super talented musicians outperforming themselves - makes for a great accompaniment - especially the piano player stands out. Notice the enthusiastic viewers' comments by this video.
Now compare this highly artistically intense dance video with another one - Dmitry Vasin's - easy, relaxed performance with another partner - Sagdiana Hamzina which Tengiz Mosidze uploaded on March 16 - 2017. The performance took place during the yearly Moscow's - October 2016 - Tango Festival. Francisco Canaro - another famous Argentinian Tango composer came up with a famous Tango - "Poema" which sounds on par with Osvaldo Pugliese's - magnificent "Patetico".
That vid shows Vasin and Hamzina - relaxed and having fun - nevertheless they execute a lot of difficult Argentine Tango moves - in a fun and and easy manner - the moves are not the highly choreographed "stagey" ones as presented in the first video. Take notice of her hands - how elegantly they look - not the spread out "claws" - at all - which at times are visible in even the accomplished female Tango dancers.
At any rate - have a good third week of March 2017 - everybody! As always don't forget to click our channel tango3721 and click here next Thursday March 23 - 2017 or Friday March 24 - 2017 to check out our choice for YT Video of the week for next week!

Our YT Vid of the Wk Pick for the 2nd Wk of March 2017 - Dr.240252 "Adam Aston-Dobranoc Kochanie 1938".

For the 2nd week of March 2017 for our choice of YT Video of the Week - we chose a lovely Tango uploaded by our friend - Dr. 240252 on May 5 - 2009 - titled "Dobranoc Kochanie" - loosely translated to "Goodnight - My Love". The lyrics are simple but moving - nevertheless - a true mark of a seasoned lyricist. The vocals are done superbly by Adam Aston - Jewish/Polish singer, a Tango Great who could perform all kinds of other genres equally well - as a much beloved Warsaw performer from the 1930's through 1939 - the onset of the Second World War which destroyed most of Warsaw talents. Aston was one of the few lucky Jewish stars who escaped the Nazi terror.
This Tango was composed and the lyrics written by a less known Warsaw Tango duo - Karasinski/Freewald. The most popular Tango creators - at that time - were Gold/Wlast - a team most popular at that time and deservedly so - however - this piece by Karasinski/Freewald is not less lyrical and no less excellent than any popular Tangos produced by Gold/Wlast with Wlast owning and managing a number of famous Warsaw venues where all kinds of talents - showcased their magnificent creations. As we mentioned to you before - Warsaw Tangos from 1930 till 1939 were considered by many knowledgeable Tango experts - totally on par - and perhaps even superior a bit - as compared to Argentinian, French, Italian, Spanish and Russian - Tango masters who were also brilliant.
The arrangement of this Tango sounds very good done by Jerzy Gert - an outstanding band leader/arranger. They keep an even, ten measure beat - which is a real "dream come true" for the Tango dancers.
Everybody have a good second week of March 2017! As always - don't forget to check out our channel tango3721 and - please - click here next Thursday or Friday for Our Choice of YT Vdeo of the Week for next week!

Our Choice for YT Vid of the Wk for the 1st Wk.of March 2017 is Big Band Lou - "Shuffle to Buffalo by Art Kahn Orchestra".

For the first week of March 2017 we chose a vid uploaded on March 01-17 by Big Band Lou - an older YT producer of mostly jazz pieces - frequently accompanied by good jazz vocals. This arrangement features excellent, easily executed but uncredited - vocals - with the whole video sounding very upbeat, fun, cheery and smile provoking. While this vid is about Buffalo, N.Y. which gets brutally cold during the winters - we want to make a few comments about Chicago with its winters - also - fierce - some years. We put an interesting comment under the video - not to be missed.
As a Midwestern "heart" of the U.S. - it is an accurate snapshot of the U.S. Presently - Chicago's vast population of "undocumented" people are in a big uproar - afraid of being deported. A lot of the Chicagoans call them "illegals" - since they either arrived in the U.S. in an illegal manner or overstay their visa in an illegal fashion. The Democratic politicians would not be "caught dead" calling that crowd "illegals" since the Demos - "crawl on their proverbial bellies" for the votes which they think they will get from the - legal relatives - of the "illegals"; the Demos will not get those votes anyway since almost everybody in Chicago is fed up with the Sanctuary city concept and other negative sides of illegal emigration.
Tons of the legal or naturalized residents want the "illegals" - out - especially if they have a criminal record which a lot of them - do. The local, leftist oriented - rich media manipulates the crime statistics to reduce that number. The city of Chicago - itself - is - traditionally - Democratic leftist' - slanted. The surrounding areas and the rest of Illinois baring some big cities' - neighborhoods - voted for Trump and presently - a large block of the huge number of the Independent voters - lean heavily towards the Republicans.
Most of the "illegals" are from Mexico and South America but also from Pakistan and other countries - as well. Currently they keep the immigration lawyers busy - since the ones who can afford one - get one in in a hurry. The free ones - who want the publicity and TV coverage - are not nearly as good as the seasoned ones. The talk of deportations dominates the Spanish speaking TV stations as well as Spanish language printed media full of melodrama while they conveniently forged to mention a lot of the negative aspects of the "illegals" overstaying their welcome.
The regular TV stations also display a pro-immigrant slant. Most of Chicago's media outlets has always had a "leftist" Democratic bias - notwithstanding some Democratic career politicians - rich and hypocritical - who don't give a "hoot" about anybody - since they just want to continue their "political hacks'" - lucrative careers. Still - I heard a conservative commentator stating on the radio the other day that "we need to clean out our city - all the foreign and domestic criminals have to go - that material - has to be cleaned out."
I thought that his - was rather harsh approach since the "illegals" are still human beings and need to be treated with respect. A young "illegal" broke my heart - the other day. He was about thirty - sat alone at the table in a cozy, informal but nice coffee shop - inside a big, terrific Chicago food store "Tony's Finer Foods" - a beautiful, truly democratic establishment.  I noticed that he was in poor health - small, scrawny, skinny without the teeth since the outline of his jaw indicated that. He enjoyed his moment of piece when nobody bothered him. I wished that I could send a special angel to protect him.
Maybe God was busy giving the great movie star looks and talent for survival plus general talent - galore - to some other soul born into this world. After they deport him back to his country - probably - Mexico - he will definitely not get any "red carpet and orchestra treatment" of any kind. Mexico frequently likes to unload their poor onto the overloaded U.S. welfare systems.
Enough of sadness - everybody will have a good first week of March 2017! As always - click here - a week from today!

Our Pick of YT Vid of the Wk for the 4th Wk of Feb.2017 - "Our Is the Night".

For the 4th Week of Feb.2017 we picked as our Video of the Week - a lovely piece uploaded on Feb.23-17 by Oliver - a young YT Video producer - titled "Our Is The Night" which is a famous Polish Tango from the late 1930's performed by Dan's Choir  in this version. It needs to be noted that this Tango was magnificently performed by many famous Polish vocalists - one of the most famous one - Mieczyslaw Fogg - in fact - started his glorious career with Dan's Choir.
We picked Oliver's videos before - who is a young collector/expert on Tangos and other famous pieces from the late 1930's when Warsaw which was a big center for talented composers, lyricists and other creative greats - most of whom were destroyed by the Nazis at the onset of Second World War - in 1939. Warsaw - the "mecca" for distinguished Polish artists - many of them Polish Jews - who performed in movies, theatrical stages, cabaret stages and other artistic venues experiencing artistic renaissance - was destroyed with the outbreak of Second World War in 1939 which also destroyed most of that generations' - enormous talents.
The music of this famous Tango was composed by an unknown lady composer Stephanie Gorska while the hot, erotic, beautiful lyrics were written by Julian Tuwim - a famous Polish/Jewish poet/writer/lyricist. I loved his children's verses as a child - so did millions of other children. When I later studied his adult works at high school and at the university - I knew that he was a genius since his erotic and satirical works spoke to the hearts of millions of his followers.
The sunny, early fall day when they announced on the radio that he died suddenly - stands out in my mind. He was only in his middle forties. His numerous readers took it hard but the times were difficult in Poland during the late 1950's. The Communist Polish government at that time - had to follow Stalin's (Red communist butcher's) directives.  A lot of writers and artists who didn't want to produce enough of "red, government required - propaganda" - died suddenly under most mysterious circumstances.
At any rate - have a really good coming week - everybody - and - as always - don't forget to click here next Thurs. March 02 or Fri. March 03 - 17 for our pick of YT Video of the Week! Also - please - check out our comments - by this vid - by tango3721 - you can also click on our YT channel - tango3721!

Our Choice for YT Video of the Wk - 2nd Wk. of Feb.2017 - "Ninon - Smile at Me" by Dr.240252.

For the third week of Feb.2017 we chose a video uploaded by Dr.240252 on Feb.14-2017 - titled "Ninon - Smile at Me". Dr.240252 chose terrific artwork of Paris circa 1930's since this version of this popular hit from the 1930's is done by a fine French orchestra and a good French tenor.
Dr.240252 uploaded another version of this lovely song several years ago - performed by Jan Kiepura - a sensationally gifted, great looking and sounding - Polish tenor who also appeared in many successful movies in the 1930's. This popular hit has been composed by Bronislaw Kaper - a famous Polish Jewish composer who fled Poland when the Second World War broke out in 1939 when Hitler started his massive campaign against the Jews and a few other minorities - like the Gypsies and homosexuals and several other groups on the order of suspected Communists.
Bronislaw Kaper did some important work in Hollywood - thank God. Jan Kiepura's sensationally successful career lasted many years; he frequently performed with his gorgeous wife, a talented German actress/singer - Martha Egghart - with their marriage also lasting a long time - notwithstanding all the pressures of fame and great popularity with numerous European and international - fans.
When I was a teenager I visited Kiepura's famous, well designed villa in Krynica Zdroj - the mountainous, beautiful Polish resort. The Polish communist government turned his huge house into a resort spa - super luxurious and top notch - all the way. I can still taste the delicious coffee cappuccino with whipped cream - served on the huge patio - clean, spotless and caressed by fragrant, colorful flowers.
This pretty song was performed by Jan Kiepura in a famous, enormously popular Polish movie titled "Tout pour L'Amour" produced in 1933.
Enjoy the video - have a good third week of February 2017 - everybody! As always - please - click here next Thursday or Friday to check out our choice of YT video of the week for next week!
