Our Choice for YT Vid of the Wk for the 1st Wk.of March 2017 is Big Band Lou - "Shuffle to Buffalo by Art Kahn Orchestra".

For the first week of March 2017 we chose a vid uploaded on March 01-17 by Big Band Lou - an older YT producer of mostly jazz pieces - frequently accompanied by good jazz vocals. This arrangement features excellent, easily executed but uncredited - vocals - with the whole video sounding very upbeat, fun, cheery and smile provoking. While this vid is about Buffalo, N.Y. which gets brutally cold during the winters - we want to make a few comments about Chicago with its winters - also - fierce - some years. We put an interesting comment under the video - not to be missed.
As a Midwestern "heart" of the U.S. - it is an accurate snapshot of the U.S. Presently - Chicago's vast population of "undocumented" people are in a big uproar - afraid of being deported. A lot of the Chicagoans call them "illegals" - since they either arrived in the U.S. in an illegal manner or overstayed their visa in an illegal fashion.
The local Democratic politicians would not be "caught dead" calling that crowd "illegals" since the local Leftist Dems - "crawl on their proverbial bellies" for the votes which they think they will get from the - legal relatives - of the "illegals"; the Dems will not get those votes anyway - since almost everybody in Chicago is fed up with the Sanctuary city concept and other negative, crimey sides of illegal emigration.
Tons of the legal or naturalized residents want the "illegals" - out - especially if they have a criminal record which a lot of them - do. The local, Leftist oriented - rich media - manipulates the crime statistics to reduce that number. The city of Chicago - itself - is - traditionally - Democratic Leftist' - slanted.
The surrounding areas - however - and the rest of Illinois except some big cities' - neighborhoods - voted for Trump and presently - a large block of the huge number of the Independent voters - lean heavily towards the Republicans.
Most of the "illegals" are from Mexico and South America but also from Pakistan and other countries - as well. Currently they keep the immigration lawyers busy - since the ones who can afford one - get one in in a hurry. The free ones - who want the publicity and TV coverage - are not nearly as good as the seasoned ones. The talk of deportations dominates the Spanish speaking TV stations as well as Spanish language printed media full of melodrama while they conveniently forged to mention a lot of the negative aspects of the "illegals" overstaying their visas.
The regular TV stations also display a pro-immigrant slant. Most of Chicago's media outlets has always had a "Leftist" Democratic bias - notwithstanding some Democratic career politicians - rich and hypocritical - who don't give a "hoot" about anybody - since they just want to continue their "political positions" - which means - their lucrative careers.
Still - I heard a conservative commentator stating on the radio the other day that "we need to clean out our city - all the foreign and domestic criminals have to go - that material - has to be cleaned out."
I thought that his - was rather harsh approach since the "illegals" are still human beings and need to be treated with respect. A young "illegal" broke my heart - the other day. He was about thirty - sat alone at the table in a cozy, informal but nice coffee shop - inside a big, terrific Chicago food store "Tony's Finer Foods" - a beautiful, lavishly decorated food establishment.  I noticed that he was in poor health - small, scrawny, skinny without the teeth since the outline of his jaw indicated that. He enjoyed his moment of piece when nobody bothered him. I wished that I could send a special angel to protect him. Maybe God was busy giving the great movie star looks and talent for survival plus general talent - galore - to some other souls born into this world.
After they deport this crowny, skinny guy - back to his country - probably - Mexico - he will definitely - not get any "red carpet and orchestra treatment" of any sort. Mexico frequently likes to unload their poor onto the overloaded U.S. welfare systems.
Enough of sadness - Everybody will have a good first week of March 2017! As always - click here - a week from today!

Our Pick of YT Vid of the Wk for the 4th Wk of Feb.2017 - "Our Is the Night".

For the 4th Week of Feb.2017 we picked as our Video of the Week - a lovely piece uploaded on Feb.23-17 by Oliver - a young YT Video producer - titled "Our Is The Night" which is a famous Polish Tango from the late 1930's performed by Dan's Choir  in this version. It needs to be noted that this Tango was magnificently performed by many famous Polish vocalists - one of the most famous one - Mieczyslaw Fogg - in fact - started his glorious career with Dan's Choir.
We picked Oliver's videos before - who is a young collector/expert on Tangos and other famous pieces from the late 1930's when Warsaw which was a big center for talented composers, lyricists and other creative greats - most of whom were destroyed by the Nazis at the onset of Second World War - in 1939. Warsaw - the "mecca" for distinguished Polish artists - many of them Polish Jews - who performed in movies, theatrical stages, cabaret stages and other artistic venues experiencing artistic renaissance - was destroyed with the outbreak of Second World War in 1939 which also destroyed most of that generations' - enormous talents.
The music of this famous Tango was composed by an unknown lady composer Stephanie Gorska while the hot, erotic, beautiful lyrics were written by Julian Tuwim - a famous Polish/Jewish poet/writer/lyricist. I loved his children's verses as a child - so did millions of other children. When I later studied his adult works at high school and at the university - I knew that he was a genius since his erotic and satirical works spoke to the hearts of millions of his followers.
The sunny, early fall day when they announced on the radio that he died suddenly - stands out in my mind. He was only in his middle forties. His numerous readers took it hard but the times were difficult in Poland during the late 1950's. The Communist Polish government at that time - had to follow Stalin's (Red communist butcher's) directives.  A lot of writers and artists who didn't want to produce enough of "red, government required - propaganda" - died suddenly under most mysterious circumstances.
At any rate - have a really good coming week - everybody - and - as always - don't forget to click here next Thurs. March 02 or Fri. March 03 - 17 for our pick of YT Video of the Week!

Our Choice for YT Video of the Wk - 2nd Wk. of Feb.2017 - "Ninon - Smile at Me" by Dr.240252.

For the third week of Feb.2017 we chose a video uploaded by Dr.240252 on Feb.14-2017 - titled "Ninon - Smile at Me". Dr.240252 chose terrific artwork of Paris circa 1930's since this version of this popular hit from the 1930's is done by a fine French orchestra and a good French tenor.
Dr.240252 uploaded another version of this lovely song several years ago - performed by Jan Kiepura - a sensationally gifted, great looking and sounding - Polish tenor who also appeared in many successful movies in the 1930's. This popular hit has been composed by Bronislaw Kaper - a famous Polish Jewish composer who fled Poland when the Second World War broke out in 1939 when Hitler started his massive campaign against the Jews and a few other minorities - like the Gypsies and homosexuals and several other groups on the order of suspected Communists.
Bronislaw Kaper did some important work in Hollywood - thank God. Jan Kiepura's sensationally successful career lasted many years; he frequently performed with his gorgeous wife, a talented German actress/singer - Martha Egghart - with their marriage also lasting a long time - notwithstanding all the pressures of fame and great popularity with numerous European and international - fans.
When I was a teenager I visited Kiepura's famous, well designed villa in Krynica Zdroj - the mountainous, beautiful Polish resort. The Polish communist government turned his huge house into a resort spa - super luxurious and top notch - all the way. I can still taste the delicious coffee cappuccino with whipped cream - served on the huge patio - clean, spotless and caressed by fragrant, colorful flowers.
This pretty song was performed by Jan Kiepura in a famous, enormously popular Polish movie titled "Tout pour L'Amour" produced in 1933.
Enjoy the video - have a good third week of February 2017 - everybody! As always - please - click here next Thursday or Friday to check out our choice of YT video of the week for next week!

Our YT Video of the Week Choice for the 2nd Wk of Feb.2017 - "Fuzzy Wasp - Gypsy Romance by Yana Gray".

For the second week of Feb. 2017 - we chose an extremely original Gypsy/Russian romance titled "Fuzzy Wasp - Gypsy Romance" uploaded on Feb.10-2017 by our friend - a fine alto vocalist - American/Russian performer - Yana Gray who specializes in Russian Gypsy Romances or Old Russian Romances - her most favorite genre - which she mastered.
Yana Gray picks outstanding artwork - as well - for her numerous YouTube videos; for this one she picks ships on the ocean and some wistful - romantic looking couples in love.
The original lyrics were penned by Rudyard Kipling - a British - nineteen century/beginning twentieth century writer/thinker - an enormously talented one - a poet/novelist - whose works were vilified - as racist.
It's an irony since the "Lefties" of today - use this derogatory term "racist" whenever they can't point to any facts to substantiate their legitimate Leftist claims. This - way - overused derogatory term was actually coined by Leon Trotsky - a despotically power hungry - Bolshevik/Soviet leader - who himself - ended his career on a very tragic note - murdered by his Communist "bodies" - in Mexico - where he thought that he escaped from the Communist power circle of the day; however - in the early 1930's when Stalin "exercised" his reign of Red terror in the Soviet Union - there was no escape from his Communist fury.
Today's - young and idealistic Lefties - do not care to study the history of Socialism/Communism - since they are misguided ideologs - wanting a "Socialist Paradise" - crammed down everybody's throat.
A lot of the U.S. "Lefties" greatly admired the Soviet Revolution of 1917 - until the truth started to "slip out - en masse". It needs to be noted that many U.S. and International Leftists - fervently extolled the Red Communist propaganda materials - until the truth started to come out in huge droves - as it always does.       The simple fact is that in any country in which Socialism (a little "brother" - making a way for Communism) - took power - it's proven to be a total disaster.
The Scandinavian countries - B.T.W. - are not any cockamamie Socialisms/Communisms - each one of them has a big Capitalist factor - in their respective economies; however - B.T.W - their universal health system - is replete with many examples of - severely - rationed care - thus - frequently - crippling and inadequate - where the rich can obtain - a much better medical attention. Thus - we are back to Capitalism.
A Russian/Gypsy Romance composer - Andrey Petrov created this fine piece in 1892 - thus this great sounding Gypsy/Russian musical composition was actually popularized in a successful Soviet movie titled "Rough Romance" from 1984 - directed by a Russian director - Eldar Ryazanov.
At any rate - have a good second week of Feb.2017 - everybody! Happy Valentine's Day to all! If you're in love - keep it in the right kind of love's - mode - since according to many wise sages - love can be blind, deaf, insane and leading to "no good" actions. Needless to say - love can - also - be a great high - which needs to be experienced in order to enhance any human life.
As every week - don't forget to click here next week - either Thurs. or Friday - for our choice of the Video of the Week - for the third week of Feb.2017!

For Our YT Video of the Wk. for the 1st Wk. of Feb.2017 - We Choose One by Dr.240252 - Again.

For the first week of Feb.2017 as our YT Video of the Week - we pick - again Dr.240252's work - since his sophisticated but accessible videos are popular with us. He uploaded a very charming, upbeat jazzy work titled "Roaring Twenties - University Six - (The California Ramblers) 1927 - Rosy Cheeks" on Jan 31-2017.
The video features - six talented college students - no doubt - all of them enormously musically talented - having fun with their instrumental solos. The sounds flow - cheery and uplifting. In addition to his interesting musical selections of all sorts - Dr.240252 gives you tons of useful info in a short, condensed manner which always comes handy for impressing people at any party or otherwise - in general. The visuals (artwork) he picks - invariably present intriguing complements to his musical selections.
At any rate - have a good first week of February 2017 and as always do not forget to click here next week - either Thurs. Feb.09 - 17 or Fri. Feb. 10 - 2017 for our next selection of our YT Video of the week!

Our YT Video of the Wk. Choice for the Wk.of Fri.Jan.27 through Fri.Feb.03.

For the Fourth (Last) Week of Jan. 2017 we chose again a vid by Tengiz Mosidze uploaded on Jan.13-2017 - titled "Tango 'Chicque' by Maria and Alexander Frolovs (a couple - very fine Russian Tango dancers) with Solo Tango Orchestra - Moscow Tango 2017 Fest."
One of my most favorite Tangos' composer Osvaldo Pugliese composed a number of breathtaking Tangos - this one is definitely one of them. Almost flawless performance by this married couple who visibly enjoys their number - features a number of skillfuly executed "Argentine Flicks" which look slightly different than a normal "Flick" which borders on "kicking the partner in the butt" if not carefully done.
The band "Solo Tango Orchestra" prides itself in excellent Tango musicians - especially the enthusiastic piano accompaniment is noteworthy. Back to the dancers - their "Sentadas" or brief sitting on the male dancer's lap by the female partner - are also skillfully executed since this deceptively simple movement - can be easily messed up to look funny. It's especially true - when at times - the male lead is a lot weaker than his female follower which sticks out like a proverbial "fist next to the beautiful face with the nicely shaped - nose".
The only tiny flaw which I noticed in their almost perfect routine was - her fingers all spread out when she was holding on to his back and arm. The fingers need to be elegantly together since when they are spread out (a commonly overlooked detail even by the finest dancers) - they can look like claws ready to claw into some unsuspecting - flesh.
At any rate - it's the last week of January 2017 so - all of us will have a very good one. As always - do not forget to click here next Thurs. Feb.02 - 17 or Fri. Feb.03 - 17 for our Choice of our favorite YT Video of the Week for the first week of Feb. 2017.

Our Choice for YT video of the Wk. for the 3rd Wk. of Jan.2017 is "Yana Gray - Dvie Gitary - Old Russian Romance"-uploaded Aug.11-2012.

For the third week of Jan. 2017 we chose Yana Gray's vid from Aug.11-2012 titled "Dvie Gitary - Yana Gray - Old Gypsy/Russian Romance". Yana's husky, sensuous, low voice sunds ideal when she belts out old Gypsy/Russian ballads. This old, beloved classic was performed by tons of great vocalists - however - Yana's version - definitely - stands up well as compared to a lot of other famous interpretations.
The composer of this popular, old tune - is some uncredited unkown author of Hungarian Gypsy Romances with the lyrics penned by Apollon Grigoriev. It needs to be noted that the instrumental arrangement by Vasiliev sounds very fine.
The intriguing looking profile avator which Yana Gray uses is that of a famous silver screen diva - Gloria Swanson who in collaboration with Joseph Kennedy, Sr. - produced quite a few popular movies in the 1920's. He was in his middle thirties - married and with six children - one of which - Kathleen - suffered from severe mental illness for which he decided on lobotomy without his wife's knowledge. They had their daughter permanently committed to institutions all her life. Joseph Kennedy, Sr. was allegedly Nazi symphatizer who - according to widely circulated reports - "wanted to hold his nose and do business with Hitler".
Joseph Kennedy, Sr.'s three year old hot and passionate love/business affair with Gloria Swanson ended suddenly after Gloria called out Joseph in front of some industry partners and friends - referring to him using their joint movie production company money to buy himself a fancy car while their joint movie producing company was "hemorrhaging" money half way into the the filming of their last project - which stopped for quite a while due to production difficulties. They - but mainly Gloria Swanson - lost close to a million dollars in 1920's money - which in today's money would - easily be ten times as much.
At any rate - enjoy Yana Gray and have a super good third week of Jan. 2017! As always click here on either Thurs. Jan. 26 or Fri. Jan. 27 - 2017 to check out our choice for YT Video of the Week for - the 4th week of Jan. 2017!
