Our Choice for YT Vid of the Wk for the Last (5th) Wk of Dec.2017 - "Too Late - King Oliver - 1929".

For the last week of 2017 - we chose a video featuring a fast and snazzy jazz melody performed by King Oliver N.Y.C. Jazz Band titled "Too Late - King Oliver" - uploaded by Bigband Lou who loves the jazz music from the 1920 through 1929 - the time frequently called "The Golden Twenties Jazz Madness". It was posted on YT by Lou on Dec. 26 - 2017 and some interesting comments under the video are worth reading.
As far as dancing to this enormously fast beat - we can't think of any dance moves which would be suitable - however - listening to it - is a lot of fun since the instrumental arrangement of this piece - simply dazzles.
Have a great last week of 2017 - everybody! Happy New Year 2018 to all of us - it will be Happy, Healthy and Prosperous. As always - please click here next week - which will be next year in 2018! Thanks for clicking on our channel tango3721! Celebrate New Year's Eve 2017/2018 with a designated driver who will drink the "kiddy" champagne sans alcohol!!!

Our Choice for Christmas 2017 Week - for YT Vid of the Week - "Old Tango from Warsaw - Adam Aston - Milosc Cygana - (Zigeuner - Tango) - 1933".

For the Christmas 2017 Week - we chose a YT video uploaded by Dr. 240252 on Dec. 16 - 2017 titled "Old Tango from Warsaw - Adam Aston - Milosc Cygana (Zigeuner Tango) [German translation - Gypsy's Tango] 1933." It's a beautiful German Tango - popular in Warsaw circa 1933 and many other European countries. The German Tango composers Austin Egen and Franz Grothe - came up with a good tune while the lyricist Meteor didn't have to write too long lyrics. Essentially this Tango is about a Gypsy who stole a heart in love.
The famous Warsaw vocalist Adam Aston performed many excellent Tangos with his characteristic trait of understated emotions typical to Tangos. It needs to be noted that Polish Orchestra lead by Witold Tychowski arranged many good Tangos with their signature sound of Hawaiian guitars.
This video has some interesting, poignant comments by Dr. 240252 - especially the one which he directs to David Hager about the lady named Barbara - a literary critic - who was a close friend of Dr. 240252 and who passed away a few years back after leaving a lot of interesting comments under Dr. 240252's numerous, excellent YouTube's - videos.
It's amazing how the group of us got to know each other through our comments under the many YT videos uploaded by Dr. 240252 over the last several years.
At any rate - have a good Christmas week everybody with your families and friends! Relax, enjoy the holiday and have a good time! As every week - thanks for clicking this website and "see you all" - next week!

Our Choice of YT Vid of the Wk or the Third Wk of Dec.2017 - Fri. Dec.15 till Fri. Dec.22-2017!

For the third Week of Dec.2017 we chose a beautiful Tango dance scene from an excellent movie about Rudolph Valentino's life titled "Valentino" produced in 1951 which was based on Valentino's life. Rudolph Valentino started out his career in New York City where - after he got off the ship from Italy - he worked as a Tango dance teacher - handsome but poor and almost destitute - until he started to have some rich clients - ladies of various social positions and persuasions.
The video is produced by the party called Ultimate Movies Broadcast Show (no clue who is behind it) - on Jan. 03 - 2017. The title reads "Argentine Tango Danced by Anthony Dexter and Patricia Medina in 'Valentino' - 1951". In the scene Valentino - played well by Anthony Dexter performs a hot and sensuous classic Tango "La Cumparsita" at the casting party at the opulent home of major players of 1920's - Hollywood. Anthony Dexter flawlessly channels Rudolph Valentino who got his first major break-out part in the movie "Four Horsemen of Apocalypse" after performing this memorable Tango. The popular book "Four Horsemen of Apocalypse" is long, tedious and hard to get through.
The ravishing star Eleanor Parker plays Valentino's love interest - also a famous female movie star from 1920's who had a tempestuous affair with Valentino. They were cast together in several successful movies with the "Sheik" motive - much parodied and ridiculed -  since every enormously popular piece - meets this course of events.
Unfortunately Valentino died young - in his early thirties as a result of peritonal infection (burst appendix) - caused by the blow he sustained from his lover's jealous husband. His funeral in New York City in 1928 - stopped New York traffic for a long time as thousands of people - especially women - mourning him - came en masse to pay the last respects to their beloved matinee idol.
Have a great new week - everybody! The major winter holidays are almost here then the New Year's Eve 2017/2018 is "right around the corner". Happy Hanukkah to all who celebrate it! We finally got an inch of fluffy snow on the picturesque hills in our mountainous neighborhood close to New York. As always keep clicking our website tango3721 - we thank you - and check here next week to find out our choice of the video of the week - for the Christmas 2017 - week!

We Are Highlighting a Special Event - for the Beginning of Hanukkah 2017!

Ladies and Gents! Kids and Teenagers!

Take notice that this year's Hanukkah 2017 Celebration will commence tomorrow at sundown - tomorrow that is - Mon. Dec. 11 - 2017. However - today - this morning - Sun. Dec. 10 - 2017 - Beth Shalom - a big temple located at the very heart of Pittsburgh's trendy - Squirrel Hill - held a very pleasant and fun - Hanukkah Party organized and attended by the ladies of the temple's Sisterhood.
According to the ancient beginning of this tradition - celebrated mainly in the U.S. - the Maccabees defending the Jerusalem Temple had only enough oil to light the Jerusalem Temple's menorah for one night - however - miraculously - after the menorahs' candle burned one night - somehow the oil "materialized" so the temple's menorah could be lit and shine - all eight nights.
At any rate - have a super good Hanukkah Season 2017 - everybody - so the bright lights of your menorahs - shine for everybody the whole year - until the next year's Hanukkah 2018!
We shall meet here a week from today - as every week!

Our YT Video of the Wk for the 2nd Wk of Dec. 2017 - "Old Polish Tango - Hanka Ordonowna - Jesli Mila Ci Moja Pieszczota - 1929."

For the second week of Dec. 2017 - we chose a lovely old Tango by a lesser-known Polish Tango composer H. Hosson with the magnificent lyrics written by Hanka Ordonowna - a superstar of Warsaw stage, movies and cabarets from 1929 till 1939. The title "Jesli Mila Ci Moja Pieszczota" translates loosely to "If You Like My Caresses". It was uploaded by Dr. 240252 on Dec. 06 - 2017.
Hanka Ordonowna's life and career could make a great movie but regrettably - according to Dr. 240252 - the Polish movie made about her life was not only not good, but it came out phony, fakey and boring. It would seem to be hard to accomplish since her life and a legendary career with the performances on Warsaw's stages and in many famous Polish movies from the late 1920's which look and sound great - even today. In addition to being extremely multi-talented - she was also a beautiful woman, an accomplished dancer who wore magnificent garments with style and pizazz.
She married a wealthy and handsome Polish prince - Michal Tyszkiewich who helped - for a while - in writing some sensational lyrics for her hit love songs. His family totally rejected her which caused a rift in their marriage. She also missed her professional life in Warsaw, so she left her husband's mansion to return to her life as a superstar.
She had a few widely publicized affairs with several famous Polish male movie stars and producers of her shows - while her husband waited for her return. She did come back to her husband but after some grueling Second World War experiences which strained her health - consequently - she contracted TBS again - which virulently attacked her lungs; she died young - in her middle forties. However - she left a sizable legacy of her creative works - most of which are available on YT.
Have a great second week of Dec. 2017 - everybody! The Christmas and the New Year's Eve will be here soon! Keep checking this website for which we - thank you all - whole bunch!
A small correction - Dr. 240252 deleted this video on Sat. Dec. 09 - 2017 - most likely due to some minor copyright issues - however - YouTube has his numerous, lovely videos of Hanka Ordon-Tyszkiewich with his interesting and informative commentaries enhanced by the comments of the viewers.

Our YT Choice of the Video of the Wk. for the 1st Wk. of Dec. 2017 - "Tadeusz Falishewski - Szkoda Twoich Lez Dzewczyno - (1929)".

For the first week of Dec. 2017 - we chose a vintage Tango uploaded by our friend Dr. 240252 on Nov. 10 - 2012 titled "Tadeusz Falishewski - Szkoda Twoich Lez - Dziewczyno - (1929)". The title translates loosely as "Its a Shame You Shed Tears - Woman."
The composer - Artur Gold and the lyricist - Andrzej Wlast - were the enormously famous and talented Tango "duo" in Warsaw from 1929 - 1939 where many other equally talented composers and lyricists came up with the most beautiful Tangos ever written - totally on par with other famous Tango greats in Argentina, France and other countries where Tango was popular.
As every wildly popular song does - this Tango also "spawned" lots of parodies. One of them twisted the title to "It's a Shame You Were Born - To Cause Problems - Woman". The lyricist - Andrzej Wlast was also a celebrated producer of popular cabaret shows - attended by most A-listers of all the important layers of Warsaw's upper crust - circa 1929 - 1939 - so he could get a date with a lot of Warsaw's talented beauties of the day. However - it was widely rumored that he fell hard for a beautiful chorus girl - Vera Bobrowska who loved her "career" a lot more than any men in her tempestuous life. Even though - according to their contemporaries - she was gifted with very minimal performing talents - nevertheless - being blessed instead - with tons of self-promotion "gifts" - she managed to bo a "hot" performer for quite a few years. Please read our comments under this video; other people including Dr.240252 also comes up with interesting theories re: Ms. Bobrowska self-promotion and ensuing - popularity.
Have a great first week of December 2017 - everybody and please - click here next week to find out which video we will pick for the video of the week - next week. As always - continue clicking on our channel tango3721 - we appreciate it and send you a big hug!

Our Choice for YT Vid of the Wk - the Thanksgiving 2017 Wk.-"Tango Aus Berlin-Eric Harden-1930".

For this Thanksgiving 2017 - week - we chose a Thanksgiving 2009 - Video uploaded by Dr. 240252 on Nov. 20 - 2009 - titled "Tango Aus Berlin-Eric Harden Tanz Orchestra - 1930". The composer of this Tango - Ludwig Schmidseder came up with several well-known German Tangos in the 1930's - but he was also famous for playing a huge instrument resembling a church organ - it looks like a gigantic clavicord with many keyboards.
The lyrics were penned by a less well-known lyricist - Ralph Siegel. The Eric Harden Orchestra's arrangement - keeps an even, ten beat measure - perfect for dancing. The vocals are brief - frequently done that way in German Tangos - they call them "Refreingesungen".
After you read the condensed comments under this video - your will notice how meaningful they sound - especially the one by yours truly - the editor of this column. I thought for a while of how my life has changed since that memorable Thanksgiving 2009. It got much better - for sure - which is always terrific - even if eight years ago - things were also interesting and fun - but in a different manner. One has to have a positive outlook on life's changes but at times it requires some "positive spinning".
At any rate - have a great Thangsgiving Weekend 2017 - everybody! Don't forget to click here next week to check on our choice of YT Video of the Week for next week and as always - continue clicking on our YT website - tango3721 - thanks whole bunch!

Our Choice of YT Video of the Week for the 4th Week of Nov. 2017(Thanksgiving Wk) - "La Dolce Vita-Marcello Mastroianni-Anita Eckberg-O Sole Mio-Dajos Bela".

For this Thanksgiving Week - the fourth Week of Nov. 2017 - for our Youtube Video of the Week - we chose a sparkling, thought-provoking and fun - video - produced by our New Yorker friend, an expert writer on Entertainment "landmarks" - Genia 106. Her newest video titled "La Dolce Vita-Marcello Mastroianni-Anita Eckberg-O Sole Mio-Dajos Bela" was posted on Nov. 14 - 2017. She picked the musical piece for this video - a fabulous instrumental arrangement of an old Italian classic - "O Sole Mio" performed by an orchestra led by a famous musician from 1920's - an extremely versatile musical genius - Dajos Bela - for this clip.
A prominent Italian silver screen leading man - the star of the movie "La Dolce Vita" - Marcello Mastroianni - had many publicized affairs with famous, talented and glamorous movie stars in the nineteen sixties but he eventually married an international and French movie star - Catherine Denevue after divorcing his first wife with whom he had an older daughter. Ms. Denevue - a beautiful French movie Goddess gave birth to Marcello's younger daughter - Chiarra - a good looking and talented singer/actress in her own right - well known to a younger generation of Marcello's fans.
If you watch the famous movie "La Dolce Vita" by Fellini - you will - most likely - either like it a lot or dislike to the same degree. The clips which Genia 106 have chosen do capture the spirit of that famous film.
At any rate - have a super good and fun - Thanksgiving Week coming up. The Thanksgiving has always been my most favorite holiday of the year - with my second favorite being the New Year's Eve. Some Thanksgivings - the picturesque hills - here in my hilly "turf" - are covered in a layer of an early snow - which gives this mountainous area - a fairy tale like - appearance.
As always do not forget to click here - next week to check on our choice of YT Video of the Week for the following week. Also keep clicking on our YT Channel - tango3721 and - please - read our comments under this video as well as Genia 106's effervescent - response!

Our YT Choice for the Video of the Week for the 3rd Week of Nov.2017 - "Autumn Roses - Tango - 1932".

For an exciting story of an immigrant who "makes good" in the U.S as she passes through various exciting, diverse stages at different times of her life - click the secure Amazon.com website - then find "Tango Fire" - the Memoirs" - by Lana Hadley - you will love that version of our story.

Our choice of the Video of the Week for this coming - third week of Nov. 2017 - is the upload of an old Tango from 1932 titled "Autumn Roses - Tango - 1932" - produced by our friend - a sophisticated author of many beautiful videos - Dr. 240252 - published on Nov. 06 - 2017.
The magnificent lyrics are penned by a famous Warsaw lyricist/famous Warsaw cabarets owner - Andrzej Wlast - author of the lyrics to many terrific old Tangos in Warsaw circa from 1930 - through 1939. The music was composed by Arthur Gold who also came up with tons of great Tangos at that time.
Mieczyslaw Fogg handles the vocals in the top notch manner - with his tradmark being the soft and understated emotional delivery - hard to achieve. Fogg had been famous in Poland and abroad as a Polish and an international "crooner" - well known all over the world whose distinguished career lasted a very long time. He always looked good and sounded even better; of course - as a young performer his youth contributed a lot to his glowing appearance but as he got older - he never lost his attractive image which kept changing as he aged.
I have recently relocated from Chicago to a smaller, friendlier area - as familiar to me as Chicago; it's a hilly vicinity of New York which I like much better than Chicago for a lot of diverse reasons. You can read my  comments under this video to which Dr. 240252 gives an excellent response. He is an extremely erudite and well educated guy.
Everybody and all of us will have a super good third week of November 2017 and as always - keep clicking on our YT channel tango3721 plus - as every week - please - don't forget to click here next week to find out our choice of YT Video of the Week for next week!

This week we picked a beautiful Brasilian tune sang by a talented Brasilian tenor Orlando Silva - popular in 1939 - Rio de Janeiro to be our choice of our favorite YT video of the week. The sound of Portugese language is just like the sound of Italian - one can listen to it forever. The producer of this video - Jose Carlos Martins uploads Brasilian and Italian vocal performers - most of his uploads sound and look excellent. The tune we picked for this week was uploaded on Oct. 14-2017 - very recently. The title of this video - again - "Orlando Silva Canta Cidade Brinquedo - Original - Raridade".
The visuals Jose Carlos Martins picks for this piece present Rio de Janeiro - the famous Brasilian city - in English - "River of January" through the artistic prism of an excellent black and white photographer. The snapshots of 1939 Rio de Janeiro capture the spirit of that time.
At any rate - everybody will have a super good second week of November 2017 and as always - keep clicking on our channel tango3721 and also check this website next week to see which video we will pick as a YT Video of the Week for next week!

Our YT Choice for the Vid of the Week-1st Wk of Nov.2017-"You and My Guitar - Yana Gray - Tango".

Yana Gray - American/Russian vocalist has uploaded a terrific Tango video on Sept. 28 - 2015 - titled "You and My Guitar - Tango". Her alto version of this song with the accompaniment of a small orchestra sound very good because her vocals are enhanced - rather than compete with the musicians. You can clearly hear her pleasant, warm alto but you can also discern the skills of the musicians who add to her performance.
This famous Tango was composed by Jerzy Petersburski - a talented Polish/Jewish composer from the prominent Warsaw family of musicians - famous in the pre-Second World  - Warsaw - a rich mecca of glorious Tangos and other outstanding pieces. From 1930 - until 1939's outbreak of the Second World War - Warsaw flourished - rich in talents of all kinds. Unfortunately - a lot of those gifted artists perished in Hitler's camps or they became war casualties under other war related circumstances.
Yana Gray's interpretation of this famous song is much different - but no less beautiful than that of Tadeusz Falishewski's (a famous Warsaw cabaret crooner from the same time 1930 - 1939) version - presented by Dr. 240252 on Dec. 03 - 2008 titled "You and My Guitar". Notice our comments under that video. Enjoy both videos!
Have a good first week of Nov. 2017 - everybody! Chicago had a dreadfully rainy, cold, non-stop three days this week - after which the temperatures dropped like crazy. We fervently hope that it is not a sign of fierce winter to come! As always - please - don't forget to click here next week to find out about our choice of the Video of the Week for next week and keep checking our YT channel tango3721!

Our YT Video of the Wk for the 4th Wk of Oct.2017 - "HIllary Clinton Greeted by Boos and Shouts 'Fascist' on the Way to Her Honorary Doctorate".

The lady with a non-descript sounding voice has had a successful YT channel called "Gotcha News Network". She usually picks a current article in the press then she reads parts of it. She uploaded the video titled "Hillary Clinton was booed and called 'fascist'" on Oct. 18 - 2017.
The English viewers' comments under that video re: Ms. Clinton being granted an honorary Doctorate from the Swansea University Bay - of Wales - ran a gambut of outrageous to absolutely livid regarding Ms. Clinton's receiving that degree for money - they maintain - which will pave way to her teaching post at New York's - Columbia University.
Ms. Clinton's acceptance speech at the Swansea University condemns Brexit since she holds a Globalistic/No Borders of any kind for the U.S. and other advanced countries - political view - which makes her a darling of all kinds of political refugees and among those a big group is ready to inflict harm on the West using their nefarious "plans" threatening the safety of the U.S and the West; quite a few of those illegals and other similar political criminal elements - also worship her.
Nigel Farage - is a distinguished English politician who engineered Brexit - whom she not only openly despises but proclaims so to English and American press whenever the mike of any kind is shoved into her face; in addition - she blames also him for her presidential elections 2016 - defeat - the reason number - at least - forty - according to - even - the shamelessly leftist biased American press.
Mr. Farage's reply to her tirade against him goes something like that - "she is currently making a pathetic spectacle of herself in England - trying to hawk her worthless book full of mostly lies - for twenty English pounds - as if the Clintons didn't accumulate hundreds of millions of dollars while 'serving the American people'". He also added that the Clintons hate and try to destroy everybody who doesn't agree with them and refuses to support them and their questionable - to say the least (while being extremely generous to them) - global enterprises of various dubious kinds.
At any rate - have a super good week - almost the last one in October; the fall stands in her colorful glory around Chicago - which is - unfortunately - generously infested with all kinds of hoodlums toting illegal guns while they freely crawl the Chicago streets. As always - click on our channel tango3721 and check this website next week to find our choice of the YT Video of the Week for next week!

Our Choice of the YT Vid of the Wk - the 3rd Wk of Oct.2017-"Tango 'Patetico' - Dmitry Vasin and Carla Espinoza with 'Solo Tango Orchestra'".

For the third week of Oct. 2017 we chose Tengiz Mosidze's video uploaded on Nov. 03 - 2014 titled "Tango 'Patetico' - Dmitry Vasin and Carla Espinoza". This Tango performance was done by the abovementioned dancers during the Buenos Aires Tango Fest 2014 in which they took a fifth place but should have taken a much higher one. The Tango titled "Patetico" by Oswaldo Pugliesi has to be one of the most exquisite Tango composition - to date.
Dmitry Vasin - usually choreographs his numbers - while "The Solo Tango Orchestra" frequently accompanies the dancers. We - already - mentioned - lots of favorable things about "The Solo Tango Orchestra" - so there is no need to repeat stuff. Vasin's choreography looks dazzling. Notice how Carla Espinoza follows his lead but also contributes a lot to their piece.
At any rate - all of us will have a really good third week of October which - as every year - goes by entirely too fast. The leaves are changing colors so the smell of the coming holidays brings to mind snowlfakes swishing in the air and the winter scene. Soon all the trees will be covered with snow as all of us enjoy the coming winter.
Chicago had less crimes this week than a year ago - which is a rather small consolation - but supposedly - good news - however - with all the illegal guns flowing into the city from Indiana and Wisconsin - it would have to take a lot of inhuman efforts to deal with Chicago's chronic crime issue - a persistent problem plagueing this city.

Our YT Vid of the Week for the 2nd Wk. of Oct. 2017 - "Jonathan Rhys Myers-Match Point-Alfred House-Schoner Gigolo".

For the second week of Oct. 2017 - we pick a charming and fun - video uploaded on Sept. 26-17 by our New Yorker friend - Genia 106 who uploads terrific in every way - videos which are visually dazzling with the corresponding musical accompaniaments.
On Sept. 27 - 17 she uploaded a video based on a famous Woody Allen movie "Match Point" from 2004 which made Scarlet Johansen an international star/celebrity. Her partner in this movie - a handsome Jonathan Rhys Meyers - an Irish movie star - has been a famous star in England but this film introduced him to American audiences.
In her interesting commentary Genia 106 gives you plot highlights of the movie which appears to be well worth renting out. In addition - she informs you about Woody Allen's difficulties in making this film which eventually became successful. The music she chose - a famous Tango - "Schoner Gigolo" has been popular for many, many years and fits the spirit of her video.
If you look for Jonathan Rhys Meyers recent news on YT - you will find out that due to his wife's miscarriage - while she was pregnant with their second child - he slipped back into his "alcoholic" habit after being dry and sober for a long time. We - certainly - wish him and his wife all the best.
Genia 106 and I - made some hilarious comments regarding Jonathan Rhys Meyers great looks - all of you need to read them and enjoy them. After that - everybody - shall have a super good second week of October and as always - please - click on our YT channel - tango3721.
Next week - you need to check here on Fri. Oct. 13 - 2017 (very lucky day!) or a few days before to find out our choice of YT Vid of the Week for next week!

Our Choice of YT Vid of the Wk. for the 1st Wk of Oct.2017 - "American Tango - Orchids in the Moonlight - Harry Horlick's Orchestra - 1948".

For the first week of Oct. 2017 we chose a video uploaded by Dr.240252 on Dec. 27 - 2014 titled "American Tango - Orchids in the Moonlight - Harry Horlick's Orchestra - 1948". That famous Tango comes from an excellent movie from 1933 - "Flying Down to Rio" with Fred Astaire, Ginger Rogers, Dolores Del Rio and a few other talented stars who - unfortunately - faded away. It was the first movie in which Fred Astaire danced a minor dance with Ginger Rogers but they stole the show and subsequently made eight musicals together which were full of their great dancing numbers, good music even if the plot lines were not too believable - at times.
In "Flying Down to Rio" - Fred Astaire dances quite a bit with beautiful Dolores del Rio who was also a magnificent dancer in addition to being an excellent actress. "Orchids in the Moonlight" became a famous Tango which Fred Astaire performed in his typical top notch manner with a beautiful star from Argentina - Dolores del Rio. Vincent Youmans - the composer simply outdid himself with this terrific Tango melody but the lyrics done by the prominent Sammy Kahn with some less known lyricist - Eliscu - also stand out.
At any rate - have a good first week of October 2017 - everybody! As always - do not forget to click our channel tango3721 and - please - check here next week on Fri. Oct. 06 - 17 or a few days before to find out our choice for the YT Video of the Week for next week!

Our YT Choice for the Vid of the Wk - for the 4th Wk of Sept. 2017 - "'Everything Passes' by Klaudia Shulzhenko."

For the last week of Sept. 2017 - we chose a song by the famous Soviet Diva - Klavdia Shulzhenko titled "Everything Passes" uploaded on June 17 - 2013 by 783nata - YT video producer. The ballad is flawlessly delivered in a silky mezzo by Klavdia Shulzhenko whose legions of followers - presently include a lot of younger fans who know her through YouTube.
The video producer picks the photos of the singer which capture most crucial moments of her life. As a young performer she had an appearance of an angel - however - as she aged and faced typical life's challenges - intensified by her great talent - her looks changed - they became rougher. No doubt - vodka had something to do with it. Adored and idolized by many thousands of her faithful fans who bought her records - En masse - she never lost touch with common people and their important passages even though she was on the top of her successful "run" - for many years of her glorious career.
However - unlike another famous Soviet Diva - Lyubow Orlova - Shulzhenko never got too involved in Soviet politics while Joseph Stalin - the Communist butcher held on to power for many decades. She couldn't speak against him - of course - but she didn't kiss his ass - either. Whoever saw her in person in concert - remembers her outstanding stage presence - as if it was a religious experience.
The song we are highlighting in this video -was composed by a talented composer with the lyrics written by a gifted lyricist - to be sure - however - only a few enormously talented vocalists like Klavdia Shulzhenko could deliver it in a manner which penetrates the souls of the numerous listeners of various ages and nationalities.
At any rate - have a good last week of September - everybody! As always - keep clicking on our YT channel tango3721. Also - check here next Thurs. Sept. 28 - 2017 or a few days before!

Our Pick for the YT Vid of the Wk. for the 3rd Wk. of Sept. 2017- "Barry Sisters-Ich Chob Dich Tzifil Lieb"!

For the third week of Sept. 2017 we picked an old Yiddish song posted on YT on Feb.10 - 2015 by VintageMusicFm - titled "Barry Sisters - Ich Chob Dich Tsifil Lieb". Its an old Yiddish song - romantic, "schmaltzy" but charming - with an excellent vocals by the two sisters Bagelman - Minnie and Claire - who were real beauties when - younger. Thy sing part of it in Yiddish but the second part is in Enghlish.
At the beginning of their careers - they were big in the "Borsht Belt" area of New York Catskills Mountains with a big following of New York Jews. However - they built quite a following and sold a lot of records to listeners who liked performers like Frank Sinatra - which means lyrics worth listening to - good vocals and super good orchestral arrangements.
Half of this song is done in Yiddish but the second half - they sing in English. It's a corny but romantic musical piece - easy to humm and easy to remember. As much as the talented and beautiful sisters enjoyed a sizable career in the U.S. - their performances in Israel were not met with a decent reception because Hebrew took over big time - with Yiddish spoken only by older people.
At any rate - have a great third week of Sept. 2017 everybody! This week - Chicago continues with glorious weather and less homicides. Now - presently - the leftist leaning Chicago politicians are getting ready to issue "special cards" to "anybody known to mankind" who comes here. Those cards would entitle the holders to free public transportation (as if the public transportation is not already infested with all kinds of hoodlums bothering decent people) - and the city libraries' privileges would also be available for the holders of those "new" identification cards.
It's a shame that the leftist politicians don't give the new card holders - free dinners twice per week at the leftist legislators' - homes. Needless to say - those kinds of legislative excesses are costly. Guess who is paying? You guessed right - the squeezed to the max - Chicago taxpayers are footing the bill. The city - already - has enormously high taxes on anything they can tax - if they could tax people's "belches" and other functions - not mentioned in a mixed company - they would. Thank God for the near by suburbs which don't do it quite as much.

The Vid of the Wk for the 2nd Wk of Sept. 2017 - "California Ramblers - Yes - She Do (No She Don't) - Columbia 1927".

For the second week of Sept. 2017 - we chose a funny video uploaded by Dr. 240252 on July 30 - 2009 titled - "California Ramblers - Yes - She Do (No She Don't)-Columbia 1927". The arwork which Dr. 240252 picked - reflects the feverish, fun and full of the reckless abandon - Golden Twenties climate in the U.S. in the 1920's - the craziness which swept other countries - as well. The Jazz fever which swallowed most countries in a huge wave of Jazz music, dancing, dressing and famous bobb hair styles (especially for the ladies) seemed to have no end in sight - until it fizzled out at the end of the 1920's - to give place to another world trend.
California Ramblers had a lot of success and longevity in performing many, many gigs until they got tired of it and started to do other things - equally well. This particular arrangement has a piano - dominating - in Jelly Roll - a famous Harlem Jazz musician/legend's style. The viewers' comments under this vid - will make you laugh.
At any rate - have a super good second week of September 2017 - while the people in Florida are bracing for the wrath of approaching Hurricane - Irma. Chicago has truly glorious weather this week and less than usual number of homicides. As always keep clicking our channel tango3721 and check here next Thurs. Sept. 16 - 17 - to check on our choice of YT Vid of the Week - for next week!

Our Choice of the Vid of the Wk for the First Wk. of Sept. 2017 - "Marta Mirska Sings-Hanka Ordonowna-'Milosc Ci Wszystko Wybaczy".

For the first week of Sept. 2017 - we chose a lovely vid uploaded by Dr. 240252 - our YT - friend - on Oct. 27 - 2009 - titled "Marta Mirska Sings Hanka Ordonowna - Milosc Ci Wszystko Wybaczy."  This old hit was enormously popular English Waltz from the well loved Polish movie "Spy in the Mask" from 1939.
Hanka Ordon Tyszkiewich - more commonly known as Hanka Ordonowna - happily married to Count Tyszkiewich for quite a few years - was a talented and beautiful Polish movie star, singer and a versatile performer from 1935 - 1939. Later in life she suffered a lot of hard passages - but she was always loved by Polish people - the affection which was well deserved. You can read her bio on YT. The Polish movie about her life turned out to be a total bomb - in every aspect - according to Dr. 240252. Unfortunately - she died young - in her forties - but a lot of her work is available on YT and is well worth checking out.
We hope that everybody will have a very nice long, Labor Day weekend which officially ends the summer. So far it's been a cool Chicago summer 2017 - which is a positive thing. We will  not be mentioning the consistent crime in the city which has been a problem for a long time. The current mayor tries to blame it on the past administration - a long "dynasty" of mayors.

Our Choice for the YT Vid of the Wk. for the last Wk. of August 2017 - "Titina - 'Modern Times'-1936" by theodorin - uploaded on Dec.29-2009.

Charlie Chaplin sings and dances like a comic virtuoso he really proven himself to be. Paulette Goddard - his long time companion - also shines like a big star - next to him without upstaging his genius.
If you have a moment you can check out two other vids of Titina with the viewers' comments which will give you a lot of interesting info in an easy manner. Another "Titina's" instrumental version is uploaded by our friend - an enormously erudite - Dr. 240252 on Oct. 03-2012. The comments by the viewers are funny including one by yours truly - not boasting or anything like that - mind you. The vocal version of Titina with funny American lyrics and good vocals by Billy Murray - an 1920's - American jazz crooner was also uploaded by Dr.240252 - this one was uploaded on Aug. 03 - 2007.
Have a great last week of Aug. 2017 - everybody! As always - do not forget to click on our channel tango3721! Also - check out this column next Thurs. Aug. 31 - 2017 to find out our choice of YT Vid of the Week for the next week!

For the 4th Wk of Aug. 2017 we picked as YT Vid of the Wk - Genia 106's upload "Marlena-Hallo Kleines Fraulein-Tango-Barnabas Von Geczy-Rudi Schuricke."

Genia 106 - our sophisticated New Yorker friend who uploads quite a few Tangos and other fun musical works - came up with this fun video on June 19 - 2014. The editor of this column (yours truly) - made a comment in Genia 106 video's comment section - which is absolutely - not to be missed.
At any rate - Marlena Dietrich - a silver screen goddess and a legend - sings this piece - in her trademark - raspy - voice - as a part of duet with a popular German crooner - Rudi Schuricke. Barnabas Von Geczy's Orchestra performed tons of beautiful Tangos and other popular genres during the nineteen thirties and nineteen forties. Barnabas Von Geczy distinguished himself as a prominent, lasting and popular band leader and arranger. Marlena Dietrich's photos look awesome as always - while her unique singing style - amazes - taking into consideration her evident lack of vocal training and minimal singing voice.
Have a great week - everybody! Chicago has had a lot of rain - during the week with a firm promise of good weather for this coming weekend - during which several fun fests will take place; it's almost the end of the summer festivals - the little kids as well as the older ones - will be back in school very soon - thank God.
I told you that all of us here - love the fall season which always goes entirely too fast before the famous Chicago winter - starts. Some of the fierce, windy and snowy winters seem to never end - but let's have an optimistic and positive projections of every kind - for the coming immediate future and in general - everybody!
Don't forget to click here next week - to check our choice for the YT Video of the Week for next week - which will be the last week of August 2017! We shall meet again right here - same place - same time and same channel!

Our YT Choice for the 3rd Wk of Aug.2017 - "1928 Polish Dance Orchestra - Henryk Gold 'Your Sad Eyes'".

For the third week of Aug. 2017 - we chose a lovely, melodic old Tango composed by Jakub Kagan - a famous Polish Tango composer who also came up with a famous but morbid, sad and depressing piece called "Golden Panther" which we featured a few month ago in this column.
Our choice for this week was uploaded on Aug. 03 - 2017 by Dr. 240252 - our erudite YT friend who has uploaded tons of glorious Tangos and other videos for his numerous YT followers - over the last ten years - of his activity on YT platform.
Henryk Gold's Orchestra - famous in Warsaw and the rest of Europe in the pre-Second World War years - 1928 till 1939 - arranged and composed a lot of fabulous musical and vocal pieces of Tangos and other works. Unfortunately - Henryk Gold was only one of the few who survived the Nazi terror. Gold dies at the ripe old age in the U.S. after a successful string of many long "gigs" - here. A lot of other talented foreign artists could not "translate" their successful formulas to appeal to the American audiences.
Chicago had a relatively smooth week with only a "few" homicides which needles to say - were a "few" too many - if you compare this city to New York City which has twice the population of Chicago and half of our - homicide rate.
The fall will be here soon - hurray! Have a super good week - everybody and as always don't forget to click our YT channel - tango3721. Also - please - don't forget to click here next week to check out our choice of the YT Vid of the Week for next week!

For our pick of YT Vid of the Week for the 2nd wk of Aug.2017 - we chose Mr. Jadedtom's Video clip from Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper famous movie "Desire"(1936).

For this second week of Aug. 2017, we chose a fabulous film clip from the famous movie "Desire" uploaded by new to us - mini video producer - Mr. Jadedtom. It was uploaded on Sept. 27 - 2016 and it's titled "Marlena Dietrich sings 'Awake in a Dream' from 'Desire' (1936)".
The three-minute movie clip - encapsulates Marlena Dietrich's beauty, charm and a superbly sensuous manner of delivering a song without having any special vocal qualities. In addition - her acting and the presence in front of the movie camera - both emphasize her mastery in knowing how to use the movie camera to her best advantage.
The same could be said about an enormously handsome Gary Cooper - except he doesn't sing in this scene - but his movie screen presence and chemistry with Marlena - are both - truly amazing - one could watch those two on the silver screen for a very long time.
Marlena Dietrich's private life was a subject of many gossips which were exaggerated by various movie studios - for additional publicity. Her private life as a mega star was the subject of her daughter's Maria Siebert Riva's many scandalous exposes - all done after her mother was dead. Maria Riva - herself - on the other hand - other than having a great luck of being a beautiful woman and an only child of a world-famous movie legend - had no other special talents.
Certainly - as an only offspring of a global celebrity whose fame lasted for a very long time - Maria Riva had access to lots of "information" which was marketable. Needless to say - Maria Rivas has experienced many extra "perks" connected with her position - however - with that kind of an awesome "territory" also come many disadvantages - as well.
Marlena Dietrich was heavily promoted by the studios as - at first - "having the most beautiful legs in the world" - I wonder how they measured that. After her daughter Maria Riva gave birth to a baby boy at the very young age - Marlena Dietrich was quickly proclaimed "the most beautiful grandma in the world."
In this spot of our weekly column we - usually give our audience some "clips" of the important events taking place in Chicago - in a "nutshell" - version. This weekend starting on Thurs. Aug. 03 - 17 - the huge, summer event of a truly gargantuan size - a long festival of rock music - "Lollapalooza" - outdoors - in a lush and enormous - Grant Park - opened - to a stormy night on Thurs. evening; they had to evacuate the wet and unhappy crowds. Friday night also rained but not that much. The tickets went for tons of money. If you gave our editorial staff including yours truly - even a large sum of money - we would not go this "spectacle" of drinking, screaming and "not so discreet" - use of various kinds of semi-legal substances in addition to "rivers" of alcohol being consumed.            Several hundred young people had to be sent to the emergency rooms of nearby hospitals. In addition - several dozens of people were arrested for "disorderly conduct" while the pickpockets stole many I-phones - most of which were recovered but the main thief was let go - since  the typical Chicago's - rich liberal leftists - "the bleeding hearts" - the rich and phony Liberals/Socialists - effectively muzzle the police so they can't enforce the laws -  the way they are legislated - but nobody is being negative or anything like that - mind you.
Enjoy the clip - the month of August will end quickly, and the gorgeous fall will be here. Don't forget to click here next week to check our choice for the YT Video of the Week for next week!

Our YT Vid of the Wk for the First Wk of Aug.2017 - "Antonio Banderas-Desperado-Julio Iglesias-LaCumparsita!"

For the first week of Aug.2017 we picked a charming and fun video uploaded by our YouTube friend - genia106 who is a savvy, sophisticated New Yorker - our favorite type. She uploaded "Antonio Banderas-Desperado-Julio Iglesias-LaCumparsita" on July 21 - 2017. The world famous classic Tango - "LaCumparsita" is performed by Julio Iglesias in a superb manner accompanied by a big orchestra which enhances his vocals. In addition - they keep a ten beat measure all through - a dream come true - for the Tango dancers. Genia106's visuals of handsome Latin "heartthrob" - international movie star - Antonio Banderas - fit the flow of music. The summer 2017 is going fast - it hasn't been too unbearably hot in Chicago so far this summer - still - I start waiting for the gorgeous fall - my favorite season - just about this time - every year.
Hope that everybody has a really good first week of August 2017. Another four weeks and all the kids will be back in school and all the tourists will go back where they came from! As always - click our YouTube channel tango3721 and don't forget to click here next week to check on our Pick for YouTube Video of the Week for next week!

Our YT Vid of the Wk for the 4th Wk of July 17 - "Alexander Wertynsky - Backstage - Za Kulisami".

For this 4th week of July 2017 - we chose a video uploaded by our friend - Dr. 240252 on July 17 - 2017 - titled "Alexander Wertynsky - 'Za Kulisami' - Backstage."
The mysterious life of a talented artist - Alexander Wertynsky has been a subject of many speculations; in a nutshell - he became famous by his Avant-guard - poetry which he set to music. He was a young man - before the Russian Revolution. Afraid of the new, bloody Red Order in newly "minted" - Soviet Russia - he fled to Paris like many Russian Emigrees - running from the "Red Terror". The Tzar's Nicholas aristocrats and other Russians in exile - embraced his work - which was considered outstanding by many critics and his numerous fans/public who adored his unique pieces.
After making a huge "splash" in Paris and Western Europe - Alexander Wertynsky suddenly returned to the Soviet Union and was welcomed there. Many people speculated that he agreed to spy for the Communist Soviet regime. It was not fully substantiated by facts - but the logic would indicate that. Why would he be welcomed if many others who created similar works were condemned as "Decadent Contra Revolutionaries?"
Long story - short - Alexander Wertynsky - died suddenly under mysterious circumstances while shooting the Soviet movie. Those kinds of things happened frequently to famous people while the Soviets were in power.
Have a great week - everybody - and - we meet here - a week from today.

Our Pick of YT Video of the Wk - the old Russian ballad - "The Snow Glitters in the Moonlight".

For the third week of July 2017 - we picked a lovely old Russian ballad - titled (translated roughly) - "The Snow Glitters in the Moonlight" - uploaded by Svetlana Kubaeva on March 02 - 2016. The piece was created by Eugene Dmitrevich Urev - a young Russian poet/composer who died mysteriously in 1910 when he was only thirty years old. He left no photos - but this work tells quite a bit about his talent and creative abilities combined with typical for creative people - sensitivity.
Ms. Kubaeva picks magnificent visuals to accompany the skilled mezzo-soprano - of the non-Russian singer - Gulnara Ismaeva whose slightly accented Russian adds to the exotic tone of the piece. The music sounds lovely - one can listen to it forever. However the artwork - depicting a Russian "Trojka" - three horses drawing the carriage during the snowy winter night - a familiar motive symbolizing the beauty of Russia - common in all the famous Russian fairy tales - tugs on the hearts of all the people familiar with rich Russian culture - notwithstanding some of their cruel leaders - for certain - reviled - by decent Russian people in Russia and decent people - all over the world.
The lyrics are simple - but they tell some about the author - namely - the part which evokes the feeling of loss while he watches a beautiful young bride during her wedding - to the rival of the author. I think that most human beings can identify with occasional pain and loss - connected to love - a universal human experience - which can be heart breaking - at times.
At any rate - have a good third week of July 2017 - and enjoy the summer - everybody! We had some annoying "flash" floods in Chicago's northern suburbs - connected with one day's unusually high - rainfall. Today everything seems back to normal - but at least - the annoying, prolonged heat waves are not bothersome at all this summer. Let's keep it this way!
Don't forget to click here a week from today - as every week!

Our Choice of the YT Vid of the Week - for the 2nd wk of Jul.2017!

For the second week of July 2017 - we pick as our Video of the Week - a funny political upload by Mark Dice - a hilarious political commentator with a cool million of followers on YT platform - alone.
On July 6 - 2017 - he produced a short video of Nancy Pelosi - the Democratic Party icon - who clearly demonstrates - again and again - the signs of senility/Alzheimer combo. Can you imagine how fast the board of directors of any "normal" company would "persuade" the chairman to "retire" - golden parachute or not.
Unfortunately - the government, state, county governments - "mini" or "maxi" - do not operate in that logical manner. The top bosses - who - usually - accumulated tons of money - thanks to - us - the taxpayers - "squeezed dry" - are usually allowed to show up for work as long as they can walk and breath. Perhaps they have nothing else to do with their lives once their way too long - "political hacking" careers - come to an end.
At any rate - enjoy Mark Dice's humor - and have a great second week of July 2017 - everybody! Don't forget to click our channel tango3721 and as always - click here next Thurs. July 13-17 or Fri. Jul. 14 - to check out our choice of YT Vid of the Week for next week!

Our YT Choice for the Vid of the Wk for the First Wk of July 2017!

For this first week of July 2017 - we picked a fun, fun, fun Video uploaded on June 29-2017 by our friend - the erudite - Dr.240252 - titled "Jazz Age: Georgia Melodians - Red Hot Mamma".
Dr. 240252 has been uploading a lot of interesting and mostly - entertaining - "mini productions" which are fun and educational at the same time. We pick his latest stuff for the coming Fourth of July Holiday which the city of Chicago celebrates in a big way - every year. Some years the heat can be a big spoiler - this year - we are expecting some rain - hopefully after the fire works. We'll let you know next week.

We make a short commentary this week since it is a busy, holiday, long weekend coming up. As always - have a great Fourth of July everybody and don't forget to click here next Thurs. July 06-17 or Fri. July 07-17 to check our pick of the YT Video of the Week - for next week!

Our Choice for YT Vid of the Week for the 5th (last wk.of Jun.2017)!

For this last week of June 2017 - we chose a short vid uploaded by the Fox News Channel on June 21-2017 - titled "Noelle Nikpour - Dems Ran a Campaign on anti-Trump".
In this short piece the Fox News commentators analyze  the inept Democratic campaign for the congressional seat vacated in Georgia after the current representative went to work for President Trump. The Democrats mobilized tons of Hollywood celebrities to endorse the unknown youngster Mr. Osoff - who doesn't even live in Georgia.
Long story - short - all that backfired and a competent Republican candidate - Ms. Handel - handily won the seat - in this special elections which had each party spend - 40 millions dollars - the amount which seems - "obscene".
Enjoy the clip and have a good last week of June 2017 - everybody! As always click here on next Thurs. June 29 - 2017 and have a good week; let's keep the coming Summer 2017 - cool - in Chicago area!

Our YTChoice of the Vid of the Week for the Next Wk of Jun.2017!!!

For the next week of June 2017 - from Fri. Jun. 16-17 till Fri. Jun. 23 - 17 - we chose Genia 106 production which she posted on June 11-2017 titled "Lupe Velez-Mexican Spitfire-A Media Luz Tango by Floridians."
Genia 106 place some breathtaking shots of a once famous Mexican star of The American Cinema - Lupe Velez - whose talent and beauty - were enormous - however - her life had most turbulent for her - ending - at an early age. You will find most interesting comments by the editor of this column as well as those by other viewers and Genia 106. The classic Tango "Media Luz" by Carlos Gardel - who was a Tango God - is performed by Floridians. Gardel became a Tango legend during his short life; after he died at an early age in a plane crash - his huge statue was erected the port harbor part of Buenos Aires - Argentina - the statue has an eternal cigarette burning constantly in his stone lips.
At any rate - the oppressing heat wave is finally breaking in Chicago and the cooling off feels good. We hope that everybody will have a good new week coming up. The summer is going fast - time to slow it down a bit.
As always - do not forget to click here next Thurs. Jun. 22-17 or next Fri. Jun. 23-17 to check on our choice of our YT Vid of the Week for next week. Keep clicking on our channel tango3721 as well!

Our YT Choice of the Vid of the Week - Yana Gray - a Russian Romance singer uploaded a new Vid on June 06 - 2017!

Yana Gray - a Russian/American vocalist with a silky, sultry, low alto voice - uploads a lot of Russian Gypsy Romantic pieces on YouTube. Her video uploaded on June 06 - 2017 is titled "Nie Sprashivaj" ("Don't Ask Me") - English translation of this title. The magnificent verses used as lyrics were written by the most famous Russian Romantic poet - Alexander Pushkin - who died in a duel over his beautiful wife's - Natalia Goncharova's - honor. He was only 37 at the time of his tragic death.
It needs to be noted that Pushkin had a reputation (not entirely substantiated) of a big womanizer. It was wildly rumored that he was inspired to write those magnificent verses due to his hot love affair with a beautiful Gypsy. Even though he - unfortunately - died at such a young age - only 37 years old - he managed to leave a big literary legacy - cherished until today - by most of the literary world for all the years - since his untimely, tragic death in a duel - in 1854. Lots of great, talented people met their unnecessary demise in duels; thank God that deathly tradition - disappeared.

The year 2017 - was Alexander Pushkin's - two hundredth anniversary of his birth. His fabulous verses were used as lyrics for this ballad. Yana Gray also gives you a lot of interesting info re: the composer of this Gypsy ballad. Listen, read, learn and enjoy.
Have a good third week of June 2017 - everybody! After many marvelous, sunny but cool - spring 2017 - days - Chicago will have some bothersome heat waves next week! That - too - shall pass!

Our YT Choice of the Vid of the Wk - Fox News upload "Laura Ingraham on Kathy Griffin's Pres. Trump's Head".

For this second week of Jun.2017 - we chose the video uploaded by Fox News on May 31-2017 - titled "Laura Ingraham's Take on Kathy Griffin's Photo of Pres.Trump's Head". Even though - we normally highlight some entertainment pieces posted on Youtube - this week - we want to present something else.
Sean Hannity - a conservative commentator with a daily radio audience of close to seven million - is the voice presenting a lot of "common sense" type of political views since most U.S. mainstream media has been shamelessly leaning towards the Leftist/New Democrats/Radicals who call themselves "Progressives".
In our chosen clip Sean Hannity interviews another popular conservative radio host - a gorgeous, smart and well-known radio talk show host - Laura Ingraham - about an ex-comedian - Kathy Griffin's photo of Pres. Trump's - severed head which caused an avalanche of various outrageous responses.
Kathy Griffin is probably ready to "dig herself in a deep hole" for a long while - since aside from some positive feedback from her buddies - the Lefty Liberals - she has received tons of - well deserved - condemnations from most of the world.
At any rate - look and listen to the clip - think a little bit about the future of the U.S and have a great second week of June 2017!

Our Choice of the YT Video of the Week for the Week of Fri.May 26-17 till Fri.Jun.02-17!

For this last week of May 2017 - first week of June 2017 - the Memorial Day Holiday week - we picked a charming video produced by our New York friend - genia106 titled: "Marilyn Monroe Singing 'Bye Bye Baby' in Korea - Happy Memorial Day!" which she posted on YT on May 23-2017.
The visuals for this vid consist of magnificent black and white shots of Marilyn Monroe as she performed for the audience of hundred thousand or so - GI's fighting Korean War. Her singing with her "signature" sexy sound points to her vocal skills - even if they are not opera training vocals mastery - by no means.
The photos capture the joy of performing "live" by a big, silver screen star and of course - the audience of thousands of young men in the army - really adores the good looking movie goddess - according to - genia106 - (a producer of this YouTube video) whose short but thoroughly researched commentary provides a lot of info. It was the first time Marilyn Monroe performed for the huge, live gathering; she did very well and was proud of herself after she completed that memorable event.
The viewers' comments by that video are interesting and insightful including the one by the editor of this feature - not boasting or anything like that - mind you.
At any rate - have a great Memorial Day Weekend 2017 - everybody!

Our Choice of YT Video of the Wk - for the 4th Wk of May 2017 - Dr.240252 - "Cole Porter - What Is This Thing Called Love? Fred Rich Orch.-1930".

For the 4th week of May 2017 - we chose a lovely upload by Dr.240252 - published on May 12 - 2017 - titled "Cole Porter - What Is This Thing Called Love? Fred Rich Orchestra - 1930".
While Dr.240252 picked magnificent, Art Deco looking artwork for this piece - the music and the eternally valid - lyrics by Cole Porter - make this video truly fascinating. If you read Dr.240252 commentary regarding the band - you will quickly learn a lot of new stuff - however - the comments of the viewers - including the editor of this column - are also interesting.
We hope that everybody reading our feature will have a very good - almost last - week of May 2017 during which the lilacs bloom and smell good. As always - click here for our pick of the Video of the Week for the last week of May 2017 - and please - don't forget to check out our YT channel tango3721 - they way you've been doing every week. Thanks whole bunch! Chicago had some decent weather this week albeit - not without a few extremely windy days. An interesting note about Chicago which is always cool to use during any boring cocktail party - "Windy City" nickname doesn't not come from the frequent  wind blowing from Lake Michigan - instead that ironic "nick" comes from the fact that Chicago has always had a dubious distinction of having - long winded politicians who love to talk a lot even if most of them they don't do much else - and we are only quoting Chicago Sun Times!

Our YT Pick of Video of the Week - for the Third Wk. of May 2017 - "Polish Tango - Chor Czejanda - Believe Me Warsaw - 1948".

For the third week of May 2017 - we chose a moving video uploaded by Dr.240252 on May 8 - 2017 - titled "Polish Tango - Chor Czejanda - (Believe Me - Warsaw)-1948".
The artwork shows how the magnificent, thriving in every way - city of Warsaw - was almost totally annihilated from the face of the Earth by the diabolical German forces during the Second World War - 1939 - 1945. It should be a lesson for mankind - what human beings do to each other when they are at war.
Thank God the city became almost totally rebuilt to its original beauty and splendor - a project which took several years after the Second World War was over in 1945. If you read the viewers' comment - including some made by the editor of this column - you will find out in an easy way - big chunks of important history.
The musical selection sounds very good since Chor Czejanda (Czejanda's Male Choir) made a lot of really good and popular recordings for many years - mainly in the nineteen forties, fifites and even some in the sixties - before the huge wave of "rock and roll" swept many excellent performers "under the rug" so most of them they had to disappear from the limelight - as if immersed in an artistic quick sands of some awful kind.
At any rate - we hope that everybody will have a very good third week of May 2017 which continues cold but sunny in Chicago. We like it that way and do not complain a bit - since the cool weather beats - at least - two heads - some early heat waves during some springs in Chicago.
As always - do not forget to check our YT channel tango3721 and - click here next Thurs. May 18 or Fri. May 19-2017 - to check out our choice of YT Video of the Week for next week.

Our YT Choice of the Video of the Wk for the 2nd Wk of May 2017 - Dr.240252 "Old Argentine Tango - 1929".

For the second week of May 2017 - we choose Dr.240252's video uploaded on May 03 - 2017 titled "Old Argentine Tango - Gold and Petersburski - Organito de la Tarde - 1929". To loosely translate that title - Dr. 240252 chose a simple phrase - "Organ Grinder in the Afternoon". It's an instrumental version - with a magnificent orchestration by a famous Polish orchestra - led by two Polish Tango greats - Arthur Gold and Jerzy Petersburski - who arranged many beautiful Tangos and who composed quite a few and famous Tangoes and other hits - as well. At times - those two who arranged the famous international hits of their day - roughly from 1930 -1939 came up with their interpretations which surpassed in their excellence - the original compositions.
The author of this tune - Cabullo Castillo is not a well known Argentinian Tango composer - however - this piece achieved a big popularity in a lot of countries. Notice the fun visuals which Dr.240252 always picks so they "work" well with the compositions he chooses. Please - also - read all the comments since the editor of this - here - feature - contributed as well - not boasting or anything like that.
Everybody will have a very good second week of May 2017. As always - don't forget to click here next Thurs. May 11 - 2017 or Fri. May 12 - 17. Keep checking our YT channel tango3721 - as well - the way you've been doing for which we - thank you a whole bunch!

Our YT Choice for the Vid of the Wk - "Roaring Twenties-Titina-1925-Nat Shilkert Orchestra".

For the first week of May 2017 - we chose a video uploaded by Dr.240252 on March 19-2017 titled "Roaring Twenties - Titina - 1925 - Nat Shilkret Orchestra". The instrumentation in this variation of this famous piece - sounds upbeat,"funky" and fun to listen while smiling; many artists recorded this tune as one of the most famous ones from the beginning of the twentieth century; this unique melody - made an unknown French composer - Leo Daniderff - immediately enormously famous all over the world. Almost every country has their funny version of lyrics to this song - regarding the purported - wild adventure of "Titina".
Charlie Chaplin sang this composition (one of his very scarce, on-screen vocal performances) and danced his immortal Chaplin style "strut" - to this tune in his popular comedy "Modern Times" from 1936 where he starred with his then - live-in girlfriend - who subsequently became his "early" wife - a famous, glamorous and talented star - Paulette Goddard - one of the many stars vying strongly for the part of Scarlett O'Hara in "Gone With the Wind" which she almost got - the most coveted role in the 1930's Hollywood - the role that eventually went to Vivian Leigh who quickly became a megastar after her excellent portrayal of the beautiful, capricious, temperamental but enormously strong heroine - Scarlett O'Hara.
Dr.240252 also uploaded his earlier version of this tune performed by an excellent, funky Orchestra led by Carl Fenton - on Oct. 3 - 2012 titled "Carl Fenton - Titina - 1925" which is well worth checking since the comments under that version read like enormously interesting bits of info - a couple of them by the editor of this - here - weekly feature - not boasting or anything like that - guys.
Another video worth viewing again is the one uploaded by theodorin on Dec. 29 - 2009 called "Chaplin - Modern Times - Movie - 1936" in which Chaplin sings and dances in a totally unique - his own - hilarious fashion - even though one of the unaccredited comments under that video claims that it's not him singing - his dancing - however - is obvious and funny. Notice the chemistry between him and Paulette Goddard - it seems so heavy that it could almost be "cut with the knife." They split up anyway - since Chaplin's last, "final" wife - Oona Chaplin - a daughter of the famous, morbid American playwright - Eugene O'Neill - was at least - thirty five years his junior - as she put up with his "genius'es" craziness for many, many years until his death at an old age. She gave birth to several of his talented children.
At any rate - enjoy the videos as you find out new stuff in a fun way - also have a good first week of May 2017 - everybody - and as always - keep checking our YT channel tango3721. In addition - as every week - do not forget to click here - either Thurs. May 04 - 17 or Fri. May 05 - 17 - to check our Choice of the YT Video of the  Week for the coming week!

Our Choice of YT Vid of the Wk - 4th Wk of Apr.2107 - "'LaCumparsita'-Tango by Carlos Molina - 1931".

For the 4th week of Apr.2017 - we chose a video uploaded on Apr.03-2013 by our friend Dr.240252 titled "'LaCumparsita' - Tango by Carlos Molina - 1931". It needs to be noted briefly that Dr.240252 translated the title to this arguably most famous Tango in the world - as "the hidden one" which we have not seen in any of the translations - of which prevailing majority translates that titles as "The small musical band" which reflects the Tango slang language of the early twentieth century.
Carlos Molina - a Colombian Tango master uses a rich orchestration which keeps the slow beat - lending itself more to listening than to dancing even though - according to the comments by this video - some famous dancers like Martha Graham performed their Tango to this particular arrangement. Still for the "normal", ballroom dancers - a bit faster beat would be easier to execute the ballroom moves of Tango.
The video is dedicated to tango3721 - who edits this weekly features - as you will find out when you read the comments by this video which are very interesting. The composer of this famous Tango - An Uruguayan - Matos Rodriguez - made this piece his enormous claim to international fame.
At any rate - enjoy the video plus all the comments and have a good 4th week of April 2017 - everybody! As always keep checking our channel - tango3721 and don't forget to click here next Thursday or Friday of next week to find out which will be our choice of the Video of the Week for next week!
